Developer invites new supply chain members to bid for projects up and down the UK

Developer and regeneration specialist St Modwen has announced 拢200m of work is to be tendered over the next six months.

The 拢121m-turnover group has 13 major projects in the pipeline up until the end of the year. The work is up and down the UK and St Modwen is seeking tenders from construction companies of all sizes, including from new supply chain members.

Steve Burke, St Modwen鈥檚 head of construction, said: 鈥淲e don鈥檛 run a closed shop. We have a big range of projects of different sizes and types so we would encourage as many contractors to work with us as possible - as long as they have a stable financial background and a strong skills base that suits what we鈥檙e looking for.鈥�

He added that preferred skills would include an in-depth knowledge of remediation and infrastructure, as so many of the group鈥檚 projects revolve around this sort of work.
Schemes in the pipeline but not yet sewn up include the 拢70m redevelopment of Longbridge town centre including a hotel, supermarket and infrastructure work, a 拢40m retail project in Hednesford and a 拢12m hotel, retail and residential project in Wembley.

Burke said that the majority of upcoming opportunities would be residential as this sector will be fuelled by the group鈥檚 JV with housebuilder Persimmon. The JV is expected to bring in seven sites with more than 2,000 homes over the next four years.

The announcement follows the news in May that St Modwen鈥檚 half-year results, due out next month for the six months ending 31 May, will come in at the high end of expectations. The developer also announced last month that it had secured planning for almost 3,000 homes on three sites in and around London.

Burke said: 鈥淲e have worked hard over the last two years 鈥� so we are now looking at an order book growing in front of us.鈥�
