The board is being formed to ensure the government鈥檚 action plan is carried out
锘緾onstruction minister Mark Prisk will co-chair a new Green Construction Board as part of the government鈥檚 response to the IGT report.
The board is being formed to ensure the government鈥檚 action plan is implemented and will comprise a mix of public and private representatives.
Chief construction adviser Paul Morrell will also sit on the board, with the co-chair and other members selected over the summer. The first meeting is scheduled for September and will feed through to the Government Construction Board, which met for the first time last week.
Chief executive of Willmott Dixon, John Frankiewicz believes the board provides a good opportunity to promote a range of green initiatives.
鈥淗opefully it will drive the adoption of display energy certificates on all commercial buildings as well as incorporating whole-life costs as a mandatory part of procurement.鈥
Rick Willmott, group chief executive of Willmott Dixon, was approached to lead the board but is understood to have declined due to time pressures.
One industry senior source said he believed former IGT group members Sunand Prasad, John Armitt and Mark Clare would be good candidates.
