High-quality finish coatings
Various Dulux Trade coatings have been used in the decoration of the Shenley Wood Village in Milton Keynes, a new development of apartments offering health and leisure facilities for people aged 55 and over. The products specified include Dulux Trade Diamond Matt, Vinyl Matt, Ecosure Gloss and Metalshield. The company says Diamond Matt was chosen for the indoor communal areas as they would require a coating that would be hardwearing in a busy, high-traffic environment. The firm adds that the emulsion can also be easily wiped clean, reducing decoration costs.

Reversible water chillers
CIATCooler is the new range from CIAT of air/water reversible water chillers for indoor installation. It is available in 10 models, covering net cooling capacities from 18 to 75kW and net heating capacities from 22 to 85kW. Available in standard or high energy-efficiency versions, the range is intended for both new-build
and renovation projects. It is available in four versions to cover the needs of various sectors, including offices, hospitals and retail. The firm says the refrigerating system uses the environmentally friendly R410A refrigerant and a new brazed-plate heat exchanger, which reduces the refrigerant needed.

Doors specified for care home
Vicaima’s Classic Oak doors and Just White plywood flush doors have been used throughout St Catherine’s View, a Colten Care dementia care home in Winchester. The company says the design of the home reflects the latest thinking in dementia care, and the right blend of calm and stimulation had to be provided for the residents. The firm claims its doors were specified mainly due to their quality and finish.

Thin Joint system
H+H’s Thin Joint system of large-format aircrete blocks and Celfix mortar was used by Highwood Group for the construction of a specialist 80-bedroom care home and six assisted-living bungalows. Thin Joint blocks were used to construct the inner skin of the load-bearing external cavity walls. The firm says the 610mm-long, 210mm-high, 140mm-wide Jumbo Plus blocks helped speed up construction, enabling the care home to meet a tight construction programme.

Commercial vinyl flooring
Polyflor, manufacturer of commercial and residential vinyl flooring, has supplied about 10,000m2 of its flooring for the new Women and Children’s Unit at the Royal Oldham hospital. The Pearlazzo PUR range was specified in a variety of colours. Pearlazzo PUR achieves a BRE A+ rating in major use areas such as healthcare and education. The company says the flooring was chosen as it can be welded at the seams and to coved skirtings to create continuous, impermeable surfaces that offer no sanctuary to dirt and bacteria. The firm adds that it is simple to clean.
