Firm to monitor noise levels at music festival to comply with new regulations
Consultant Capita Symonds will be providing noise control and waste management services at this weekend鈥檚 Glastonbury Festival, the sixth Glastonbury in succession that the company has been involved with.
Capita will work on behalf of festival promoters Festival Republic, using a team of 24 sound specialists from its acoustics and air quality group to monitor noise levels. The Capita team will also be patrolling the site at night, ensuring that the 140,000 revellers do not disturb local residents.
This year marks the first time that "noise at work" regulations have been applied to the festival. The regulations - Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (Noise Regulations) 鈥 had their remit extended in April of this year to cover the leisure industry.
Capita鈥檚 waste team will monitor surface water quality and manage surface water discharge and foul drainage from the festival, as well as managing the various types of waste generated during the event.
