Legacy deals confirmed for three more Olympic venues
Balfour Beatty has won a 10-year 拢50m deal to run services and facilities for the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park after the 2012 Games.
The firm鈥檚 Workplace divison will operate the Arcelor Mittal Orbit visitor attraction and take over overall responsibility for estates and facilities management for the rest of the park.
The news came ahead of a speech by prime minister David Cameron at the Olympic park later today, where he will announce legacy deals for two further Olympic venues 鈥 the aquatics centre and the multi-use arena.
The deals mean six out of the eight permanent Olympic venues have now secured legacy deals.
Greenwich Leisure Ltd will operate both the aquatics centre and the multi-use arena.
The Olympic Park Legacy Company claimed the deal would ensure that the aquatics centre did not require any further public subsidy as the arena will cross-susbsidise it.
Cameron said: 鈥淭oday, as we mark 200 days to go, and six out of the eight Olympic venues having already secured their future, we are well on track to delivering a lasting legacy for the whole of Britain.鈥
Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler, said: 鈥淲e are delighted to further extend our involvement with the London Olympics, which includes construction and delivery of the Aquatics Centre and now encompasses this prestigious role in ensuring London 2012 secures a magnificent, enduring legacy.鈥
