Union Railways North has awarded the multi-million pound contract on which work will begin immediately
Amec has won a contract to provide the M&E services for the new Network Rail Thameslink station beneath St Pancras, London.
Union Railways North awarded the multi-million pound contract which will begin immediately.
Amec said work would take place alongside the existing railway and will require careful phasing to ensure that current rail operations are unaffected, together with rigorous health and safety management.
The new station will help connect the Channel Tunnel rail link with the rest of the rail network. The work is scheduled for completion in late 2007. The value of the contract has not been revealed.
Steve Lee, managing director of AMEC's industrial division said: 鈥淭his is a challenging fast-track project in a busy operational environment that demands the best design and delivery skills that our industry can provide.
鈥淚t reinforces our commitment to helping maintain the capital鈥檚 transport infrastructure and follows successful rail projects in the region, such as Union Railways鈥 new Temple Mills depot and ongoing work for Network Rail, Docklands Light Railway, Tubelines, Metronet and South Central.鈥
