The Flat Roofing Alliance and National Federation of Roofing Contractors have formed the Joint Roofing Council. The initiative is the first step towards creating a unified industry voice on key issues affecting the roofing and construction industry. It will be chaired by Sir Michael Latham.

The A5 guide provides specifiers and contractors with information on its selection of Therma rigid urethane systems, Kooltherm rigid phenolic products and Styrozone rigid extruded polystyrene insulation. It is accompanied by illustrated fixing details, product details and the correct thickness of insulation required to help achieve compliance with the latest ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø Regulations.

The Tiled Roofing Consultancy, which specialises in investigating problems with slated and tiled roof coverings, has developed a computer program that allows it to provide calculations that comply with British Standard slate and tile fixings to resist wind uplift. These calculations can be used where the nailing and fixing specification is not obtainable from a manufacturer, as the tiles or slates were either out of production, or imported into the UK. The calculations can be used to show where tile or slate may not be capable of being fixed adequately and where the specification may need changing.
