Network Rail seeks firm to monitor spending programme in its central region
Consultants Turner & Townsend, Mott MacDonald and Corderoy have been shortlisted for an oversight role on 拢1.7bn of Network Rail work.
The three consultants are competing to be appointed to oversee the railway agency鈥檚 拢1.7bn of spending in its central region over the next five year period.
Network Rail鈥檚 Infrastructure Projects division is moving to incentivise good quality work from its contractors with a set of key performance indicators and is seeking a consultant to monitor the supply chain鈥檚 achievements against these.
It is also in the process of preparing and running competitions for the same role in its other regions.
The 拢1.7bn of spending forms a part of Network Rail鈥檚 拢38bn investment plan over the next five years.
Launching the plans at the beginning of this month, transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin said 鈥渋nvesting in world class infrastructure鈥� was 鈥渁 key part of this government鈥檚 long term economic plan鈥�.
Mark Carne, chief executive of Network Rail, added: 鈥淢illions of passengers and freight users will benefit enormously from the plans we set out today to wisely spend and invest 拢38bn in transforming some of the busiest parts of our railway network.鈥�
