Firm appointed to build Scottish National Performance Centre for Sport in Edinburgh
Contractor Bowmer and Kirkland has been appointed to build Scotland鈥檚 拢30m National Performance Centre for Sport in Edinburgh.
The scheme - developed by Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Council and Sport Scotland - will include a full-size indoor football pitch, a nine-court sports hall, grass and synthetic outdoor pitches, and hydrotherapy and rehabilitation facilities.
Work on site is due to start in early 2015 and to complete by summer 2016.
Scottish sport secretary Shona Robison said the scheme was an 鈥渆xtremely significant project鈥.
She said: 鈥淗aving tremendous facilities is an essential component of Scotland鈥檚 world-class performance system which delivered so emphatically with Team Scotland鈥檚 success at Glasgow.鈥
Alan Johansen, Bowmer and Kirkland鈥檚 regional director for the North East and Scotland, said he was 鈥渆xtremely proud鈥 the firm had been appointed on 鈥渟uch a prestigious project鈥.
