Marks & Spencer’s Silverburn branch in Glasgow has achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘excellent’, claiming to be the highest BREEAM Retail fit-out rating to date in the UK.
Faber Maunsell provided the engineering services and specialist design services for the ‘green’ store, which opened its doors in October 2007.
The 70,000 sq ft store claims to use around 40% less water than other M&S branches and also includes a lobby area designed to minimise heat and energy loss, as well as more efficient lighting, heating and ventilation systems.
