Ha'il Economic City, sited 700km north of Riyadh, will take 30 years to build
WSP has been appointed as programme manager on a giant 30-year project to build a new city in Saudi Arabia.
The Ha'il Economic City development, 700km north of Riyadh covers 156km2 and includes an airport and rail infrastructure as well as residential and commercial developments.
WSP said that Ha'il Economic City would aim to follow the 鈥渟mart city鈥 concept, where transport systems for industry, commerce and leisure will connect seamlessly. The total development is expected to take 30 years to complete.
WSP's role includes carrying out a masterplan review, master schedule development, cost planning, and procurement of early packages and EPC contracts as well as supervising construction.
