Eco-friendly Essex social housing project wins UK Passivhaus Trust award
A social housing project in the Essex village of Wimbish has won the best residential project award at the UK Passivhaus Trust Awards.
Developed for Hastoe Housing Association, the Wimbish project consists of 14 dwellings which were designed to achieve both accredited Passivhaus standards and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
The scheme was designed by architect Parsons + Whittley and built by contractor Bramall Construction. Davis Langdon acted as QS on the project, which was completed in June 2011. It is the UK’s first rural housing development to achieve full Passivhaus accreditation.
