New arts centre is contractor鈥檚 fourth project for university

Wilmott Dixon has been appointed to more work at Warwick university with a deal for a 拢33m arts scheme.

The Warwick Arts Centre, which has been designed by Ellis Williams Architects and delivered by Bond Bryan, will include three HD cinemas, an exhibitions gallery and a new foyer.

Turner & Townsend is project manager, with the scheme due to be completed in time for Coventry鈥檚 year as UK City of Culture in 2021.

The appointment comes months after Willmott Dixon secured a 拢54m contract to build a Hawkins\Brown-designed biomedical research building for the university.

The firm beat Bam and Morgan Sindall among others to the job.

Earlier this year, Willmott Dixon completed a 拢36m sports hub for the university.

The projects are part of the university鈥檚 wider estate transformation programme that also includes a new Faculty of Arts building and residences for up to 1,000 students.
