Construction set to start this year
Weston Homes is set to develop the latest phase of U+I’s redevelopment of the former home of the EMI record plant where records by The Beatles and Pink Floyd were pressed.
U+I has sold the Assembly ºÚ¶´ÉçÇøs to Weston, which is set to build 181 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments on the site.
Construction on this phase of the scheme is set to begin later this year.
Planning approval for the seven-storey Assembly ºÚ¶´ÉçÇøs was granted in 2018 and the will house the new apartments, of which 52 - or 29% - will be affordable, and 13,000ft2 retail space on the ground floor.
The retail space in the Assembly ºÚ¶´ÉçÇøs will remain in U+I’s ownership.
The Old Vinyl Factory is a mix of revamped Art Deco office buildings, new homes, innovation and educational hubs, restaurants, shops, gym, cinema and a doctor’s practice.
By the time it is completed in 2022, The Old Vinyl Factory will have 642 new homes.
Completed residential units within the development include The Boiler House, The Gatefold and the Material Store.
