Contractor chosen by Notting Hill Housing to build PCKO鈥檚 Grange Walk project
Specialist contractor United House has been appointed to build a 拢28m residential and retail scheme in Southwark by Notting Hill Housing.
The PCKO Architects-designed project, in Grange Walk in Bermondsey Spa, will provide 205 homes in a mix of types plus 4,086 sq m of amenity space.
There will also be retail units with 20 of the homes designed for wheelchair users.
The site, in one of the oldest parts of Southwark, is currently occupied by two 1950s housing blocks, a mix of commercial buildings and a former council depot.
Jeffrey Adams, group chief executive of United House, said: 鈥淏ermondsey Spa is an historic part of SE1 and Grange Walk is a great opportunity to work with Notting Hill Housing to deliver homes and shops in the heart of the regeneration area.鈥
Kate Davies, chief executive of Notting Hill Housing, said: 鈥淕range Walk is set to be an eye-catching, high-quality development. We are excited to be launching these homes with United House and to be playing our part in the regeneration of such a vibrant and historic part of London.鈥
Bermondsey Spa boasts cobbled streets and takes its name from a spa discovered in the late 18th century, which made the area a fashionable part of the capital for a short period of time.
Work will commence on the scheme this spring and it is anticipated that the development will be completed by summer 2014.
