Staff see average salary rise to over 拢41k according the company's human capital report for 2008
Average pay at Laing O鈥橰ourke in the UK rose 8% from 拢38,500 to 拢41,814 last year, according to the company鈥檚 Human Capital Report for 2008.
Across Europe, where it employs 5,102 people, the figure rose 8.6% from 鈧�59,300 (拢46,621) to 鈧�62,976 (拢49,508).
Meanwhile, in the Middle East, the average annual pay rose from 拢1,109 to 拢1,633.
Chairman and chief executive Ray O鈥橰ourke said: 鈥淥ur remuneration strategy remains focussed on upper quartile packages, reflecting consistency of approach and the realities of a competitive marketplace.鈥�
The company randomly tested 1,098 staff at 99 sites for drug and alcohol use. A total of 119 failed, which was up slightly on 114 in the previous year. Cannabis and cocaine use were both up by 14%.
