UK Timber Frame Association appointment seeks to reassure construction industry following Colindale fire

The UK Timber Frame Association has appointed a specialist fire safety consultant.

The move follows last month鈥檚 Fire Protection Association report into a site fire in Colindale, which questioned whether this construction method should be used for high-rise buildings.

David Berry will work with the trade body to advise on fire safety in construction. He will assist on the UTFA's 拢120,000 fire safety project, which aims to improve housebuilders' compliance with CDM Regulations and other standards.

UKTFA chairman Stewart Dalgarno said: 鈥淒avid鈥檚 appointment will play an important part in helping the UKFTA to promote best practice.鈥 He said that the appointment underlined the association鈥檚 commitment to making timber frames the safest form of construction.

Berry was a founding member of Fire and Risk Management Support Services and represented the Home Office on the 黑洞社区 Regulations Advisory Committee.
