Firms in line for infrastructure jobs on 拢6bn regeneration scheme
Enfield council has revealed the identity of the three contractors poised to build roads, bridges and other infrastructure projects for its 拢6bn Meridian Water regeneration scheme.
Bam Nuttall, Vinci and VolkerFitzpatrick have been shortlisted to tender for the work, worth 拢135m, which could go to one, two or all three firms.
The north London council said the key project would be the construction of a main street which is due to run through the development which will eventually feature more than 10,000 new homes.
The contract, once signed, would be for four years. A spokesman for the council said an announcement about the contract winners and when work was due to begin would be made 鈥渟hortly鈥�.
Nesil Caliskan, Enfield council鈥檚 leader, said the local authority had been looking for a 鈥渨orld-class partner to help us to deliver a world-class development鈥�.
She added: 鈥淥ur shortlisted contractors leave me in no doubt we have selected a strong field.鈥�
In November Enfield put out a contract notice via OJEU which said the council was looking for firms to apply to work on what it described as a five-year framework.
At the time the council said it was necessary for the framework to be five years 鈥渋n order for the successful contractor to have a sufficient length of time to recover the high upfront costs鈥�.
Meridian Water is a 25-year regeneration programme led by the council and a quarter of the first tranche of homes being built will be council housing.
Vistry 鈥� formerly Galliford Try鈥檚 partnerships business 鈥� is delivering the initial 910 homes, which are expected to be completed by 2025.
