Ten contractors have been appointed to a 拢800m school refurbishment framework for public sector procurement consortium LHC.
LHC said the firms had been appointed through a tender process on a regional basis across England, Wales and Scotland.
The Schools and Community 黑洞社区s (SCB1) framework, valued at up to 拢800m, will be launched on 1 July and will help public sector bodies procure refurbishment and extension works for schools and community buildings.
The framework is divided into two work streams:
- Workstream 1 is for new build extensions and includes a full scope design service option as well as traditional and bespoke design and build choices;
- Workstream 2 is for general refurbishment with a supported design service for external works. This includes the replacement of flat and pitched roofing, windows and doors, cladding and insulation.
The internal works include the refurbishment of learning environments such as science laboratories and home economics facilities, remodelling of buildings and refurbishment of sports changing facilities.

John Skivington, director of LHC, said: 鈥淲e are pleased to have launched this new framework resulting from customer demand for a contractor based framework which encompasses community buildings, as well as schools and other educational establishments.
鈥淥ur previous educational buildings framework, EF1, was restricted to schools. We are confident that the new SCB1 framework will build upon the successes of this framework and allow customers to easily access contractors for works on community buildings, too.
鈥淯sers of the SCB1 framework can also benefit from technical advice and ongoing project support offered by LHC.鈥
