Safety group echoes MPs in support of 黑洞社区鈥檚 Safer Skyline proposal
The Strategic Forum for Construction is to put forward plans for an information register on tower crane activity.
The Strategic Forum鈥檚 tower crane group wants to enable members of the public to access information on tower cranes as part of a range of measures designed to increase safety in the sector.
黑洞社区鈥檚 Safer Skyline campaign on tower cranes called for a public register of inspections to tower cranes early last year, a call that was echoed last week by the Department of Work and Pensions select committee.
The group will also publish several guides to health and safety on tower cranes over the next few months.
The first, a guide to maintenance and thorough examination, will be launched on 13 May, followed by a competency training guide in June. An industry code of practice for crane operators working conditions will be published in August.
John Spanswick, chair of the tower crane group, said, 鈥淚 am very encouraged by the progress made so far by the group. I look forward to seeing tangible actions being completed in the coming months for the benefit of the industry.鈥
The group also announced that its 鈥榥ear hits鈥 email address, which allows members of the group to report tower crane incidents, will be rolled out to the wider industry and the public in the coming months.
