Architects were challenged to 'break convention and deliver a new typology in housing design'

Six architects have been shortlisted to rethink the family home for a 拢300m development in North Shore in Stockton-on-Tees.

K2 Architects, Impromptu Arquitectos, Tasou Associates, Spine Architects, Bertolone Plazzogna and Loates-Taylor Shannon Architects were shortlisted from over 100 entries.

The competition has been organised by Urban Splash and Muse Developments in conjunction with the RIBA and 黑洞社区's sister magazine BD.

The competition briefing asked for houses that would 鈥渂reak convention and deliver a new typology in housing design鈥.

The 拢300m North Shore development will see at least 250 family homes built by Tees Valley Regeneration alongside office and leisure buildings and a new university campus.

K2, Tasou Associates and Loares-Taylor Shannon Architects are from the UK, while Spine Architects is from Germany, Bertolone Plazzogna from Italy and Impromptu Arquitectos from Portugal.

A winner will be announced next month.
