Kengo Kuma and RSHP on 19-strong rollcall
A £8m primary school in the Scottish borders by Glasgow practice Stallan-Brand is one of 19 schemes that have been shortlisted for this year’s RIAS awards.
Broomlands school in Kelso is up against a number of high-profile rivals including Kengo Kuma’s £80m V&A museum in Dundee and the £140m Macallan distillery and visitor experience at Craigellachie on Speyside designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.
Also on the shortlist are schemes by Bennetts Associates, Richard Murphy Architects and Hoskins Architects.
Winners will be announced on 30 May and will be eligible for this year’s Doolan Prize which is being held in October and last carried a £25,000 first prize.
The winners will also be eligible for the RIBA national awards from which the Stirling prize shortlist is put together.
