Luxury hotel will not open until next year - more than six months later than originally planned
Luxury hotel group Shangri-La has confirmed its under-development hotel at London鈥檚 Shard skyscraper will not open until next year - more than six months later than originally planned.
黑洞社区 revealed in September that the already delayed launch of the hotel was unlikely to happen this year due to continuing delays on the 拢40m fit-out.
A spokesperson for Shangri-La said an exact opening date for the hotel at the Shard was being finalised and would be announced in the new year.
In the summer, Shangri-La pushed back the opening date from the second to the fourth quarter of this year.
The client has now updated its website to confirm the opening has been pushed back again until the first quarter 2014.
In September, fit-out delays caused Shangri-La to replace the contractor on the fit-out job, Sisk, with rival Chorus Group.
At the time a Sisk spokesperson said the firm was 鈥渓ooking forward to bringing [the] project to its completion but it was delayed for reasons out of our control鈥.
