Leading experts from the Barker 33 Steering Group set up by the government to examining barriers to modern methods of construction will discuss some of their latest findings in a series of seminars at OFFSITE 2005.
Topics covered will include communication and the customer; certification and warranty; design and build viability; education and training; whole project costing; and the business environment.
The Barker 33 Steering Group is due to make its second official report later this Summer as part of the Barker Review of Housing Supply which was launched in March 2004.
Recommendation 33 of the Barker Review asked the Home Builders Federation, NHBC, Construction Skills and other interested parties to develop a strategy to address barriers to MMC.
The Barker 33 Steering Group is chaired by Ashley Lane of Westbury Homes, which manufactures the Space4 system. A final report will be sent to the government in the Autumn.
