Dutch M&E giant Royal Imtech has placed itself into administration after failing to negotiate additional funding with its financiers.

However, a spokesman for Imtech UK and Ireland said this division was not subject to the administration and continues to trade.

Commenting on the group鈥檚 administration, Frans Cremers, chairman of the Supervisory Board and Gerard van de Aast chairman of the Board of Management said it was 鈥渄isappointing that after all the efforts of all involved it has not proven possible to avoid this situation鈥.

鈥淔iling for suspension of payments now may optimise the chances that substantial parts of the Imtech Group may continue in the interest of all stakeholders and specifically our employees.鈥

The Imtech UK and Ireland spokesperson said: 鈥淚mtech UK and Ireland continues to trade and is not subject to this administration.鈥

鈥淚mtech UK and Ireland now operates under the sole control of the UK management and we are continuing to trade. While continuing our business we are also assessing longer-term options and in discussions with interested parties.鈥
