The Institution of Structural Engineers (ISE) and the RIBA have urged government to speed up reform of strict Olympic marketing rules.

黑洞社区.co.uk revealed last week that prime minister David Cameron was told by Olympics minister Hugh Robertson to expect a swift resolution to the problem of the Olympic marketing gag over months ago.

A previously unpublished letter from Robertson, sent to Cameron in early May, said Robertson hoped to make an announcement 鈥渟hortly鈥 on a post-games solution.

However, the government has since said that no solution to the problem will be found before the end of the year.

The two membership bodies have responded by calling on ministers to re-double their efforts.

ISE president, John Nolan, said:  鈥淭he rules need to be changed now, not 鈥榖y the end of 2012鈥 and I would call on the government to take immediate action.鈥

RIBA president Angela Brady said: 鈥淭ime is of the essence, we want to let our architects get out there and talk about their work today.鈥
