Architect Paul Davis + Partners (PD+P) has won planning permission for its redevelopment of Kent County Cricket Club at Beckenham
The mixed-use project for Kent County Cricket Club (KCCC) and Leander Sports and Leisure Ltd comprises a residential development of 48 houses, by Omega Partnership on behalf of Linden Homes, and commercial buildings, including an indoor cricket training centre, a health & fitness centre and small conference facilities.
The scheme also includes a spectator stand for 2048 seats and a replacement all weather floodlit playing surface for football, tennis and basketball .
PD+P was responsible for the design of the commercial buildings.
The buildings are designed to reflect the local vernacular in its series pitched roof design. To minimize the bulk of the sports halls, a planting screen wraps around the building with a silhouette reflecting the residential buildings directly opposite the development.
The new development will make it financially viable for KCCC to remain in Beckenham.
