Firm beat McAlpine to 拢160m scheme
Laing O鈥橰ourke has formally been awarded the deal to build a 55-storey tower in Salford.
As tipped by 黑洞社区 in February, the firm beat Sir Robert McAlpine to build the residential block called One Heritage Tower.
The overall value of the deal is 拢160m with the construction contract understood to be worth around 拢115m. Client on the scheme is One Heritage Property Developments, a Hong Kong-based investment fund.
The job, which has been designed by OMI, won planning in January and will include 545 apartments, gym, commercial space and a residents鈥 library.
Work is expected to start later this summer with others working on the scheme including project manager Box Clever, building services engineer Crookes Walker Consulting and structural engineer DP Squared. Cost consultant is Gardiner & Theobald.
Meanwhile, Laing O鈥橰ourke has appointed Seamus French, chief executive of Anglo American鈥檚 bulk commodities business, to its group board as non-executive director.
Last week, the firm said it had appointed a new chief financial officer to succeed Stewart McIntyre who steps down in September. Rowan Baker joins from McCarthy & Stone where she is currently chief financial officer.
