Developer reveals plans for residential-led scheme in Norwich

Orbit Homes scheme Norwich

Developer Orbit Homes has revealed plans for a 拢70m mixed-use scheme in Norwich city centre.

The St Anne鈥檚 Quarter development will comprise 437 new homes, 22,000 square foot of commercial space, and a central plaza area along the riverfront, which includes a landscaped open space.

Orbit Homes is currently in the process of appointing a contractor, with construction expected to begin in early 2016.

The plans will see the first homes due for completion in summer 2017, offering studio, one, and two bedroom apartments and houses, as well as eight commercial units.

The site will be the developer鈥檚 first to offer all four tenures of market sale, shared ownership, and both affordable and private rent.

Maggie McCann, development director for Orbit Homes, said: 鈥淲e know there is a lot of public interest in the site, with it having stood empty for almost 20 years, so we were delighted to share our plans with the local community.

鈥淲e have committed to spending 拢70m to regenerate St Anne鈥檚 Quarter into a mixed-tenure sustainable development that will provide new homes to meet need and aspiration in Norwich.

鈥淥rbit has a target of building 12,000 new homes by 2020 and this is a key site in helping us reaching that goal.鈥
