Scheme now expected to open this summer
The opening date for a 拢25m hotel and residential scheme Interserve is building in the heart of London鈥檚 Soho has slipped again, 黑洞社区 can reveal.
The 110-bedroom Premier Inn hub hotel was due to open last October with a spokesperson for the budget hotel chain鈥檚 operator, Whitbread, admitting it was months behind schedule.
A new completion date of spring/summer this year was pencilled in but this has now been amended to summer. A Whitbread spokesperson said: 鈥淐ompletion is expected by summer 2019.鈥
The scheme (pictured) is being built on the London street made famous by the 1995 Oasis album (What鈥檚 the Story) Morning Glory?
But 黑洞社区 can reveal the hotel still has no roof while some of the completed work is having to be ripped out because of water damage.
The Whitbread spokesperson added: 鈥淭here has been some damage to installed materials as a consequence of water ingress. Any damaged material is being replaced. The roof is due to be completed within the next month.鈥
One local source told 黑洞社区: 鈥淚nterserve鈥檚 progress has been shambolic.鈥
The retail and residential project at 90-104 Berwick Street is being built for client PMB Holdings, owned and chaired by property magnate Peter Beckwith.
Along with the hotel, it will include private and affordable apartments and 13 retail units.
A spokesperson for Interserve, which has spent 拢35m getting out of the London construction market, said: 鈥淲e are working diligently with our client toward a successful completion of this project.鈥
