Consultant will ‘capture the spirit of Arabian hospitality’ in the new lounge at Heathrow T4
McBains Cooper has won a contract with Gulf Air for its new airport lounge, as part of the refurbishment of Terminal 4 at London Heathrow Airport.
The consultant has signed a contract with Gulf Air for their new £1.5m First and Business Class lounge.
McBains Cooper will provide architecture, cost management, project management, structural engineering, mechanical & electrical engineering with Bishop Bates Freeman assisting with interior design.
The 600m² Lounge for VIP passengers flying from London with Gulf Air will feature luxurious seating for more than 30 people, washrooms with shower facilities, hand-baggage and coat storage, wireless internet connection, magazines and snacks.
Alan Muse, director at the firm, said: “The aim is to capture some of the spirit of Arabian hospitality and promote a cultural experience in the new strategic location at Terminal 4.â€
The Gulf Air lounge is the firm’s third project at the airport.
The Heathrow East-scheme is part of a £6.2bn, 10-year investment programme to transform the airport.
It includes the new Terminal 5, a refurbishment of Terminal 4 and the demolition of Terminal 1 and Terminal
The Gulf Air lounge project is due to start on site this autumn and complete in March 2009.
