Scheme to redevelop Broadmarsh shopping centre begins in coming weeks
Sir Robert McAlpine has been appointed to redevelop the Broadmarsh shopping centre in Nottingham.
The 拢86m transformation has already been given the go-ahead by Nottingham city council and while preparatory work has been underway for a number of months the contractor will start work on site in the coming weeks.
Designed by Westfield London architect firm Benoy, the Broadmarsh scheme is the latest in the pipeline for shopping centre developer Intu, which operates 17 shopping centres in the UK and last year unveiled a 400,000ft虏 extension to its Watford development which was built by Laing O鈥橰ourke.
It also plans to launch a 拢72m Lakeside leisure scheme in Essex later this year.
Martin Breeden, Intu鈥檚 development director, said the company鈥檚 Broadmarsh scheme would help the council鈥檚 plans to regenerate the wider area.
