A decision on the Albert Square scheme (pictured), drawn up by landscape architect Planit-IE, is expected to be made by the city council before Christmas.

Planit, which submitted the plans, has worked up the design in collaboration with specialist heritage architect Purcell.

Work at Albert Square will involve removing an existing concrete barrier as well improving lighting and infrastructure.

Lendlease and Purcell are carrying out a 拢350m revamp of the town hall for the city council.

Main construction work on the town hall is scheduled to start next autumn.

The wider project team includes Mace as project manager, Faithful + Gould as the QS and Arup and Ramboll, which are providing structural and civil engineering services.
