Facade and roofing specialist Lakesmere wins £13m contract on Olympic Park
Facade and roofing specialist Lakesmere has won a £13m contract to reclad the London 2012 media centre, as part of its transformation into digital hub Here East.
Lakesmere will work with main contractor Laing O’Rourke on the job.
Located at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Here East will be a creative and digital cluster of businesses.
Lakesmere will be responsible for the design, manufacture and installation of the building’s replacement glazing system that will feature a decorative pattern.
The unitised glazing panels will be manufactured and supplied by Lakesmere sister company McMullen Facades, with Lakesmere’s special projects team undertaking the design and installation.
Lakesmere will also deliver other cladding elements, an internal curtain walling system to the building’s atrium, glass and polycarbonate rooflights, ventilation louvres and several large hangar door screens.
It is the latest win on the Olympic Park for Lakesmere. The firm was roofing contractor on the London Aquatics Centre and also worked on the Olympic Park Energy Centre and original construction of the media centre building.
Lakesmere is also on site helping to transform the existing Olympic Stadium, by installing a new roof.
