Firm is part of a joint venture that has won a major Canadian hospital project
Laing O鈥橰ourke has reached financial close on a major Canadian hospital project worth CAD$2.1bn (拢1.3bn).
CHUM Collectif, a joint venture formed by Laing O鈥橰ourke, Obrasc贸n, Huarte Lain (OHL), Innisfree, and Dalkia Canada, won the design, build, finance and maintain project that includes a new build 21-storey hospital.
The scheme forms part of the Centre Hospitalier de L鈥橴niversite de Montreal (鈥淐HUM鈥) modernisation programme.
All of the joint venture partners are investors in the project through a special purpose private finance entity, their roles are as follows:
- Laing O鈥橰ourke and OHL - design and build of the new hospital
- Dalkia Canada - facilities management
- HCP Social Infrastructure Canada - project manager

The new hospital will cover 225,000m2 of floor space and deliver 772 single-bed rooms, together with a new energy centre. The project also includes a 30-year maintenance concession. The first phase of the new hospital is due for completion in 2016.
Key advisers to the joint venture are: Investec (finance), Blakes (Legal), Cannon Design and DCYSA (architects) and HH Angus & Associates (mechanical & electrical).
