Project is first to be tendered through the North West construction framework
Laing O鈥橰ourke has won a 拢90m deal to redevelop Manchester鈥檚 Town Hall and Central Library.
The project, to be delivered by 2013, will include the restoration of the city鈥檚 Grade II-listed town hall and iconic Central Library. The work, awarded by Manchester council, will also include the redevelopment of St Peters Square. The project has been designed by architect Vincent Harris.
Andrew Jackson, leader of Laing O鈥橰ourke鈥檚 Construction North division, said: 鈥淪ecuring this exciting and unique project will enable Laing O鈥橰ourke to build on our solid reputation for delivering landmark projects. It is a complex and challenging project, and one of huge value architecturally, culturally and civically. We look forward to partnering once again with Manchester council.鈥
The deal is the first to be tendered through the North West Construction Hub High Value Framework. The other firms on the framework are Bovis Lend Lease, Kier, Morgan Sindall and Wates.
