Station's 1850s vaulted roof will be repaired and reglazed, partly using photovoltaic glass
Kier has won a 拢27m contract from Network Rail to renew the large, barrel-vaulted glazed roof at King's Cross station.
Work on the three-year deal will begin in May 2009 and forms part of Network Rail's 拢450m upgrade of the station.

This is a key part of the redevelopment of King's Cross station and builds on Kier's existing relationship with Network Rail.鈥�
The job will entail the installation of 15,000m2 of glazing, of which 2,500m2 is photovoltaic glass that will generate 10% of the station's electricity requirements.
It will also involve the repair, refurbishment and renewal of the main wrought iron structure to restore the 1850s grade I listed building to its former glory.
