Contractor will build new HQ and facilities building for commercial vehicle supplier
Kier has been appointed by commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania to build its new UK headquarters and support centre in Milton Keynes.
The current site houses a t-shaped office facilities building and car park, with the contractor adding a new 54,754 ft2, three-story head office alongside a 4,718 ft2 facilities building.
The new headquarters will be a steel-framed structure with composite metal deck upper floor and roof. Internally, it will be mostly open plan, with meeting and conference rooms.
It will see Scania, which employs more than 230 staff in Milton Keynes, remain on this existing site, where it has been based for 36 years. Once the new building is complete next summer, Kier will demolish the existing facilities space.
A ground-breaking ceremony was hosted with the mayor of Milton Keynes David Hopkins on 7 November to kickstart the project.
