The contract covers military bases in the Falklands, Ascension Island, Cyprus and Gibraltar
Interserve has been awarded a two-year contract extension to continue as infrastructure support provider for four strategic international UK armed forces bases.
The contract, worth up to 拢265m, has been awarded by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation on behalf of the Joint Forces Command (JFC). The four sites comprise the JFC鈥檚 international Permanent Joint Operating Bases in the Falkland Islands and Ascension Island in the South Atlantic Ocean, as well as Gibraltar and Cyprus in the Mediterranean.
Interserve is responsible for infrastructure support at the bases, including planned and reactive work to maintain the sites. It also provides a range of site-specific services across the bases, such as aircraft handling at Ascension Island, power generation, water treatment and plant management in the Falklands, and support for visiting vessels in Gibraltar.
Adrian Ringrose, Interserve鈥檚 chief executive, said the firm was 鈥渨ell-equipped to meet the varied and changing requirements of our Armed Forces across these strategic sites.
鈥淔rom supporting visiting vessels in Gibraltar to delivering aircraft services at Ascension Island, the smooth running of these Permanent Joint Operating Bases is vital to the security of our armed forces and the civilians that they protect.
鈥淲e are extremely proud to support the building and maintenance of the infrastructure required for our country鈥檚 defence efforts both at home and abroad.鈥
