Kingspan’s products were used on a house in Balham as they were the cheapest, thinnest and best performing for that application
Kingspan Insulation supplied its Kooltherm K7 Pitched Roof Board and Kooltherm K3 Floorboard to refurbish an Edwardian terraced house, in Balham, London to near Passivhaus EnerPHit refurbishment standards. Architect Robert Prewett of Prewett Bizley Architects said the product was chosen because it was the cheapest, thinnest and best performing for that application. 70mm of Kingspan Kooltherm K7 Pitched Roof Board was specified and joined to existing timber joists for the first floor ceiling, which the firm says gives a U-value of just over 0.10 W/m2K. Kingspan’s BRE Green Guide A+ rated floorboard was used for the underfloor insulation. Prewett predicts that this property will need about 28kWh/m2/yr of energy.
