Byrne Bros founder wins posthumous lifetime achievement award, plus full list of ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø Awards winners
The construction industry paid tribute to the late Patsy Byrne - co-founder of concrete contractor Byrne Bros - who received a posthumous lifetime achievement award at the ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø Awards last night.
Byrne’s family collected the award on behalf of Patsy, who led the firm for 45 years and oversaw work on major projects including the Heron Tower, the 2012 Olympic stadium and the Lakeside shopping centre.
The glittering award ceremony at London’s Grosvenor Hotel was attended by 1,000 industry figures and hosted by actor and TV star James Corden, with additional comedy acts by Rory Bremner and Sean Collins.
Turner & Townsend was one of the big winners on the night, with the firm picking up consultant of the year over 100 staff and its chief executive Vince Clancy winning chief executive of the year.
Also among the winners was Steve Morgan, chairman and founder of Redrow, who won personality of the year; Stanton Williams, which won architecture practice of the year; and Mace, which won contractor of the year.
The hotly-contested project of the year category went to the Mary Rose Museum, while Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre in Aberdeen won the small project of the year award.
