Cirrus is an "urban carpet" that draws in circulation around the suspended interlocking solids and voids of the galleries
Zaha Hadid Architects has designed Cirrus, a dynamic sculpture to be exhibited and auctioned off at the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Centre for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati, US.
Designed in collaboration with the Contemporary Arts Centre and Formica Corporation, the sculpture is on display as a part of the exhibition Form: Contemporary Architects at Play.
Cirrus was conceived as an 鈥渦rban carpet鈥 that draws in circulation around the suspended interlocking solids and voids of the galleries.
It is also more than just a sculpture. The encompassed series of voids structure the piece, providing functional areas for sitting, leaning and reclining.
Plus, the highest bidder can purchase the first edition Cirrus at a live auction on 10 May. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the CAC鈥檚 exhibitions and education programs.
The latest collaboration marks the 5th anniversary of Hadid鈥檚 seminal design for the Lois & Richard centre.
Hadid has also collaborated with product designer Alessi to produce an exclusive version of the Crevasse vase in gold plate to celebrate women's charity, Women for Women International鈥檚 First UK Gala.
