A Roman sarcophagus has been found at a London building site
Archaeologists prepare to lift the lid of a Roman sarcophagus dating from the fourth century found on a building site in Southwark, London, on Tuesday.
The coffin was found last month after the council told Trinity House, a charity developing plans for 64 homes on a site on Swan Street, to fund an archaeological dig there before construction could begin, as the location was thought to potentially be a site of historical interest.
