Delegates gather for first of seven consultations on Health and Safety Executive鈥檚 future
The Health and Safety Executive is to host the first of seven workshops tonight to determine its new five-year strategy.
More than 100 key stakeholders from North-west businesses, the public sector and charities will meet in Liverpool to help determine the way forward for the HSE. Delegates from industry and manufacturers, special interest groups, trade bodies, charities and trade unions will join educationalists, health and safety professionals and service sector specialists to take part in the HSE鈥檚 consultation exercise, 鈥淭he health and safety of Great Britain: be part of the solution鈥.
The safety body says the strategy has been launched in response to the recent slowing of improvement in Great Britain鈥檚 health and safety performance and the rapidly changing industrial landscape.
Construction union Ucatt welcomed the proposal. But it said the HSE needed to focus on how it intended to tackle the high numbers of construction-related fatalities.
Other workshops will be held in UK cities throughout January.
