New board members prepare housing body for new regulation role

The Homes and Communities Agency has appointed three members to its board, including the former chair of the Milton Keynes Partnership, and veteran housing consultant Julian Ashby.

Ashby is a former director of housing consultant Hacas, and deputy chair of the Tenants Services Authority, which is being wound in to the HCA. He will be chair of the regulatory committee set up to oversee the new regulatory function to be inherited from the TSA in April 2012.

Dr Ann Limb, formerly Chair of the Milton Keynes Partnership, is currently chair of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership.

Keith House, leader of Eastleigh Borough Council and leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Hampshire County Council, has also been appointed board member.

HCA chairman Robert Napier said the three brought extensive public and private sector experience to the HCA. I look forward to working closely with them to deliver our remit of affordable homes and continue to shape our investment, enabling and regulatory role.鈥

Ashby said: 鈥淣ext year social housing regulation will undergo major change with the implementation of a new regulatory framework and the transfer of this function to the HCA. I am delighted to be providing governance continuity through this period of change while we gear up to focus on economic regulation in a challenging external environment.鈥
