‘Eco pod’ opens at the Wrekin Retail Park in Telford
Developer Hammerson has completed a carbon-neutral coffee shop for coffee chain Costa.
The 150m2 “Eco pod” opened at the Wrekin Retail Park in Telford, Shropshire, last Saturday (4 April). It uses a frame built of timber sourced through the Forest Stewardship Council, and an insulated wooden facade, along with photovoltaic panels on the roof and passive ventilation.
Jim Slater, managing director of Costa UK and Ireland, said: “This is an exciting first for coffee shop and retail design here in the UK and has the potential to transform not just how we build stores at Costa but the industry far more widely.”
