Plans go on public display as museum praises entries of 15 others
The six final designs for the new Guggenheim museum in Helsinki will go on display for three weeks from this weekend.
Asif Khan is the only UK practice on the shortlist. All six are being displayed anonymously. A winner is due to be announced this June.
The competition attracted more than 1,700 entries from 77 countries and the museum for the first time gives honourable mentions to 15 designs that failed to make the final cut. Among those named is Belfast architect Mark Hackett, a former partner in Hackett Hall McKnight.
The exhibition will run until May 16. The identities of the honourable mention firms are made public in accordance with EU procurement rules.
UK firms which entered the competition but didn’t make the shortlist include Amanda Levete’s practice AL_A, DSDHA, Grimshaw, Haptic, Ian Simpson and Scottish practice Stallan-Brand.
