Rachel O鈥橠onnell spent 12 years at Aecom

Hers is the second new environmental appointment in as many weeks at Mace, following James Low becoming new global head of responsible business. Low has been with the firm eight years.

O鈥橠onnell has more than 17 years of experience across the environmental, nuclear, defence and industrial sectors.

Mace鈥檚 managing director for property, Daniel Easthope, said O鈥橠onnell would play a 鈥渒ey part鈥 in growing the retrofit business.

鈥淎gainst the challenges of addressing the climate emergency and looming building safety changes, all industries and businesses need to reimagine their estates to make them fit for the future,鈥 he added.

This year Mace updated its retrofit offering to support clients in keeping their estates in line with national climate change targets and changing building safety legislation, such as the 黑洞社区 Safety Bill.

Green schemes Mace has worked on in the past include retrofitting redundant space at SOAS University of London and decarbonisation measures across Hampshire County Council鈥檚 estate.
