Outline planning granted for £75m first phase
Outline planning permission has been granted for the first phase of the £320m Chesterfield Waterside mixed-use scheme in Derbyshire.
Enabling works began on the project earlier this year after a ten-year hiatus caused by the financial crisis.
The first phase, £75m Basin Square designed by Bond Bryan Architects, comprises a hotel, retail units, apartments, offices and a multi-storey car park and incorporates a former Trebor Bassett sweet factory. Construction will commence once detailed planning is won for the individual buildings.
The overall 16 hectare Chesterfield Waterside scheme - situated around a new canal basin - will incorporate 1,200 homes and 30,000 sq m of offices and retail.
It is being developed by Chesterfield-based developer Bolsterstone, the Arnold Laver Group and Chesterfield Borough Council.
