Fraser Brown MacKenna's affordable housing scheme will include photovoltaics to meet code level three
Fraser Brown MacKenna have secured planning consent for 62 affordable homes on a site in Hackney.
The development for One Housing Group, which includes 18 homes for people with support needs, provides a mixture of housing from family-sized units to single-person flats.
The character of each courtyard is defined by the landscape design (by MESH landscape architects), with the new buildings part clad in timber. The scheme incorporates photovoltaics to provide a 10% reduction in CO2 emissions and meets Code for Sustainable Homes level three.
Simon Fraser, director of Fraser Brown MacKenna, said: 鈥淭his project addressed many of the challenges we face when developing affordable housing in London, which is often on overlooked, backland or post-industrial sites. We are delighted to receive planning approval and that by working together with One Housing Group and in partnership with Mullaley we can provide a much needed affordable housing, despite the difficult climate.鈥
